Pedicure Chair Installation Checklist

What to plan before your new pedicure spas arrive: the drain, water, power, space and delivery, so your chairs are earning on day one.

Drawn from manufacturers' owner manuals and warranties and our freight delivery terms. Models differ, so your chair's owner manual and your local codes come first.

1Before you order

  • Measure each station. Allow for the base, the reclined chair and room behind the spa to reach the hookups. Your chair's spec sheet gives the clearance it needs from the wall and the drain.
  • Pick each chair's final spot. Once a chair is plumbed in, moving it means paying the plumber twice.
  • Find your drain. A floor drain or floor sink at each station is simplest, since the chair drains by gravity. Drain above the floor or through a wall? Add a discharge pump. How high it can lift the water, and the drain size the chair needs, vary by model.
  • Run hot and cold water to each station. Fitting sizes vary by model, so check the manual. Ask your city whether backflow preventers are required; some chairs include them, and some offer them as an option.
  • Put power at each station: a 120V outlet on a GFCI protected circuit; the owner manual gives the amps per chair. Never use a grounding adapter.
  • Check your local ventilation rules. If your code calls for ventilation at pedicure stations, some chairs offer an air vent kit that connects to your salon's exhaust.
  • Book a licensed plumber and electrician. Most manufacturers require licensed installation that meets your local codes to keep the warranty.

2Before delivery day

  • Send your installers the owner manual. It shows the hookup locations and plumbing diagrams for your model.
  • Plan around lead times. Chairs are built to order. Most ship in 2 to 3 weeks, and some models take 6 to 8 weeks. Freight then takes about 3 to 10 business days.
  • Answer the freight carrier's call quickly. Storage fees may apply after 2 business days without a response.
  • Line up help to move the boxes in. Freight arrives curbside and the driver doesn't bring boxes inside. Measure the doors and hallways from the curb to your stations.

3Delivery day

  • Count every pallet and box and check each one for damage before you sign.
  • Write any damage or missing boxes on the delivery receipt before you sign, and take photos before the driver leaves. Accept the delivery with the damage noted rather than refusing it.
  • Email the photos and your order number to info@mywellnesswiz.com within 2 business days. Manufacturer warranties don't cover freight damage, so this step protects you.

4Installation day

  • Anchor each base if the manual calls for it. Follow the owner manual's steps for your model.
  • Fit the P trap at the drain. Your plumber supplies it unless the manual says the chair has one, since plumbing code doesn't allow a double P trap.
  • Test before the first client. Fill and drain each bowl, check every connection for leaks, and run the jets, the pump and the massage functions.
  • Register and file your paperwork. Register the chair with the manufacturer if it offers registration, and keep each invoice with the chair's serial number. Manufacturers ask for both on a warranty claim.
